About Chef Barbara Van Oosterwijk
With a French mother and Dutch father, I grew up with tasty and good food. My special attention to everything that happened in the kitchen only came when, after studying architecture at TU Delft, and working as an architect in Barcelona and Rotterdam for 3 years in 2002, I was able to apprentice at my favorite restaurant in Rotterdam: Restaurant Zinc.
I worked here for 14 years and learned everything... In 2008 I simultaneously started my living room restaurant and there I experimented and developed further.
In 2016 I started my own private chef to further share my passion for cooking and food in my own way.
My kitchen is a mix of classic French and modern Dutch seasonal cuisine with the necessary Mediterranean influences!
I cook intuitively, and pay a lot of attention and time to the preparation. You can taste that.
My starting point is always the seasonal fruit and vegetables, and I make exciting and creative combinations with organic meat or sustainable fish. And sometimes I also cook completely vegetarian.
In addition to being an experienced and original chef, I am also an 'emotional chef'. During cooking but also while serving. I am aware of the atmosphere around me, which makes it easy for me to respond to what is needed. The customer does not have to worry about anything and can fully enjoy the moment in his own environment.
