About Chef Armin Smit
With a background in hospitality and a lifelong passion for cooking, I trained at Silwood in association with Commanderie Le Cordon Bleu. The program felt completely natural, offering an extensive education in food, from mastering the basics to being judged by some of the best chefs during exams. After graduating from culinary school, I began my career at Fyn, a restaurant recognized as the 5th best in the Eat Out Awards and ranked 60th best restaurant in the world. I gained experience working in various sections, staging at other fine dining establishments, and collaborating with catering companies for major private and corporate events. I completed safety courses to work aboard yachts, leading me to the South of France, where I served crew and guests on private and commercial vessels, utilizing top-quality ingredients from one of the Mediterranean's finest culinary regions. Having traveled extensively across Europe and Asia, I’ve developed a deep understanding of diverse cuisines. I aim to offer the best dining experience in the comfort of your home, creating memorable moments for friends and family. I also spent time in Portugal, catering to guests in Algarve villas, primarily European, Canadian, and British clientele. Now back in Cape Town, I look forward to providing exceptional dining experiences locally and internationally.
