My name is Cadian du Plessis, owner and chef of my own live Spanish-inspired catering experience based in Johannesburg.

I started my journey in 2016 with a passion for bringing people together around large paella pans, bold flavours, and interactive food experiences. Over the years, my business has evolved from markets and festivals into private catering, weddings, birthdays, corporate functions, and curated dining experiences.

I specialise in live paella catering, tapas, charcuterie, and Spanish-inspired feasts cooked fresh on-site for guests to enjoy as part of the atmosphere and entertainment. My style of cooking focuses heavily on presentation, abundance, and creating memorable experiences around the food itself.

Although much of my experience has been self-taught through years of hands-on catering and event work, I’ve spent countless hours refining my recipes, systems, and presentation to create something truly unique in South Africa’s catering space.

The dish I’m most proud of is definitely my seafood paella — especially when it’s cooked fresh over massive pans in front of guests, layered with prawns, calamari, mussels, and rich Spanish flavours. Seeing people gather around the pan, take photos, and come back for seconds is honestly what makes the experience special for me.

For me, food has never just been about serving meals — it’s about creating atmosphere, connection, and unforgettable moments around the table.
