Julie Basset is a French nomadic private cheffe. Rooted in art and visual communication, she designs inventive "neo‑bistro" cuisine for intimate events, fashion showcases, and contemporary art settings, choosing creativity and mobility over a fixed restaurant .
After leaving Paris post‐COVID, she relocated to East Africa. She served as cheffe‐in‐residence at locations like Villa Ndar (Saint‐Louis, Senegal) and Mlango Farm (Kenya), running culinary programs, workshops, private dining and food residencies, while pursuing personal artistic projects and edible installations.
Her guiding principles are curiosity, encounter, and cross‐disciplinary creativity. In her words “Let your work be shaped by real encounters, not just algorithms or ambition.” She champions female visibility in the culinary world, reimagining the role of a cheffe as an artist, storyteller, and nomad.
