Question 1

Do I have to pay rightaway?

Accepted Answer

No. Your final costs will be entered by the chef after you've designed your menu

Question 2

How can I purchase as a business?

Accepted Answer

During checkout, you have the opportunity to enter your VAT Number - which will appear on your invoices

Question 3

Can I get an invoice up front?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Please contact us at operations@chefmaison.com for options

Question 4

Is my payment secure?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We do not store your or the chef's banking details, and partner with Stipe - a global payments provider - for safely processing payments

Question 5

How can I use my gift card?

Accepted Answer

During checkout, you can apply your discount code - this option is currently unavailable on our mobile app

Question 6

Why do you charge a service fee?

Accepted Answer

The service fee helps us maintain the platform, cover transaction costs, and provide support

Question 7

Can I pay a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, at checkout you can choose to pay a deposit. We’ll charge 30% upfront to secure your date with the chef, and the remaining balance will be charged 14 days before the event.

Question 8

What happens if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

We offer an optional flexible booking service designed to give you peace of mind. By adding this service when confirming your reservation, you'll have the flexibility to cancel your event up to 7 days before the scheduled date, ensuring you have extra security if your plans change. Unfortunately, cancellations within 3 days of the event cannot be refunded due to grocery shopping and chef preparations. For a worry-free experience, consider taking advantage of this additional service when you book. Otherwise, our standard terms and conditions will apply.

Question 9

What happens if the chef cancels?

Accepted Answer

This rarely happens. We have strict rules on cancelling our guests's requests and incentivize our chefs to never cancel. However, there might be emergencies. In this case, we will try to look for a chef within 24 hours of the cancellation - we cannot guarantee anything though. Refunds are of course granted if we cannot provide an alternative chef

Question 10

How can I apply for a refund?

Accepted Answer

Please contact us at operations@chefmaison.com.

Question 11

What if the number of guests changes?

Accepted Answer

Please communicate this with the chef. The chef will adjust the menu and the price accordingly.

Question 12

How much does a private chef cost?

Accepted Answer

A private chef through ChefMaison typically costs between €80–€150 per person, depending on party size, menu complexity, and extras like wine pairings — final pricing is always confirmed in a personalized quote from your chef. Each chef profile shows an indicative starting price, so you can compare options before requesting a quote. Every quote breaks down costs clearly upfront, meaning no hidden fees on the night itself. Once you approve the proposal, you can book and pay securely through the ChefMaison platform.

Question 13

What time will the chef arrive?

Accepted Answer

The chef should generally arrive between 1 and 2 hours in advance, although this will be variable on a per-request basis and will be communicated through the chat

Question 14

What is the difference between a private and personal chef?

Accepted Answer

A private chef is a chef who is hired by different clients for a specific event or time. A personal chef is a chef who is hired by one client full-time or part-time for a longer period of time - for example on vacation, for mealprepping or at home. ChefMaison offers both services.

Question 15

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Accepted Answer

Our chefs are very creative - and can find a solution to any dietary restriction or preference. Please use the chat to communicate your wishes

Question 16

What do I need to have in my kitchen?

Accepted Answer

The chef will communicate with you anything he needs. Tableware, cutlery, and glasses can be provided by the chef on request. Use the chat with the chef to communicate your wishes!
